$1,396.71 later... (and 2 trips)... but we finally left Ikea

Best part... paying a flat $59.00 to have everything delivered AND carried up the stairs. Best money ever spent considering I couldn't help South County Boy carry anything upstairs since i'm pregnant and he probably would have divorced me if he had to do it all by himself.

So what did we buy? Essentially in a single word:

STORAGE!!!!

Since we are staying in our condo and not moving with our upcoming bundle of joy, we finally bit the bullet and purchased the materials to put in a built in organizational unit in the living room... all so we can finally empty our walk in closet to turn it into our baby nursery.

We also bought shelves and cabinets for our bedroom to hang above the desk...

and a new rug for the living room...

and if that's not enough, we then decided to pay $527.16 in lighting materials and wires to SCB's work to put in can lights in the living room, Re-do most of the living room electrical work.... and we added some nice track lighting to my clothes wardrobe... so its pretty awesome now...

But it took a ton of work. SCB spent a week assembling everything and playing up in the attic.

Lots of elbow grease because no power tools are allowed with Ikea furniture assembly....

Thankfully my husband is willing to read directions...

By night one, he had the frames for the bottom finished... but not attached because he will need to re-do the electrical stuff first...

He put in recessed boxes and hid all the wires in the walls...

Then he hung the top cabinets...

Then SCB went to work on some stuff in the bedroom.... because the living room was frustrating him... and he was waiting on more cables to come in to finish the electrical.. Our old ones were a little too short to reach through the wall hole....

But somewhere between finishing the bedroom, he put in can lights in the living room and finished everything!!!

We still have to paint parts of the wall to cover up the holes we filled... but my living room is SWEET.

Bittersweet Ultra Sound!

That's our baby! On Wednesday SCB and I went to the doctor and got a chance to see our baby for the first time. The baby is the bigger blob measuring at 7 weeks and 2 days in size, so its on track for an end of March due date.

We got to hear our baby's heartbeat too which was more exciting for SCB than seeing it since that made it feel more human like to him...

Unfortunately our first meeting with the little guy was a bit damper... before doing the ultra sound, they did a few other things, including a breast exam and my OB thinks he found a lump in my breast...

I have to wait 2 weeks to get it checked out with an ultra sound in the radiology department, so we have been a little blue and worried. We are hoping it is nothing but generally when a doctor finds a lump and its nothing (like a clogged milk duct, etc), its normally in the 2nd or 3rd trimester, not the first. We are praying and hoping that its just my body getting ready to feed a baby and not much else...

Other than that the fatigue that's starting to set in as I enter into the 8-9th week of pregnancy, I've been feeling pretty darn good. Over the weekend I was actually hanging out and napping quite frequently, which is something I never do, but I did have 2 busy days before it on Friday and Saturday so perhaps my body was playing catch-up.

So far the nausea hasn't hit me. Sure I've had a few days where I've felt like crap for a few hours but I thankfully haven't needed to go hug the porcelain thrown yet, so i'm grateful for the little one being so kind to me thus far.

Now that I've figured out how to eat while pregnant (at least for me), we are hoping to be able to cook a bit more from home than we have been.... but we shall see. South County Boy has been such a trooper helping me out with everything and being really kind and awesome. I feel so blessed and excited for everything.

The home prep continues and we made a huge IKEA trip as we make an effort to create more storage in our little place. Pictures to come.

Purge Purge Purge

Sorry the posts have still been a little too far and in-between. Tomorrow I get to go in for our first ultra sound and see our baby... We have an estimated due date of March 27th, but after tomorrow we will have our official count down.

We have already started prepping and planning for the little bundle... and by that I mean tossing out things left and right and getting rid of all kinds of junk so we can make room for the baby.

Physically I've been feeling really good so far. I haven't had to spend a morning in the bathroom and i've had no smell aversions yet, but I have had a couple of days where for a few hours I feel really cruddy, but it seems to go away after a little bit.

I need to get better about drinking more water when i'm at home on my days off though.I'm pretty good at work since I carry a water bottle with me and everything, but at home i've been a bit forgetful and I really need to make a point to fluid up better.

We had an old friend come by last night and I made pizza bread to the delight of all, and I was quite please with myself since a few hours before everyone was supposed to cover over, I wasn't having a very good afternoon -- it was one of those days with a few cruddy hours.

But were really excited to see our baby tomorrow. Ultra sound and baby bump photos to follow.
